Nitsch Elementary School Recognized as a Model Professional Learning Community
Nitsch Elementary School has received a special honor for its efforts in enhancing student success—being named a Model Professional Learning Community (PLC) School.
This recognition is thanks to the school's effective use of Solution Tree’s PLC at Work™ strategies, which have been pivotal in boosting student performance.
Model PLCs are some of the highest-performing schools around the globe. PLCs are schools and districts in which educators recognize the key to improved learning for students is ongoing, job-embedded learning for the adults who serve those students.
“I am so proud of our Nitsch faculty and staff for being named a Model PLC campus. This is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the Nitsch staff for our Nitsch students,” Klein ISD Chief Academic Officer Dr. Anthony Indelicato said. “The awards and recognitions keep coming in for Nitsch Elementary, and it is not by accident—it is due to the dedicated leadership and intentional, collaborative structures in place to ensure student success. Thank you for being so amazing and impactful!”
In a PLC-focused school, the emphasis is on personalized learning. Nitsch made a targeted shift from a teaching organization to a learning organization by creating the systems and expectations necessary for data-informed collaborative teams to meet and make targeted instructional decisions as a collective PLC.
“EVERY day is filled with the possibility of ‘better’ for the students and staff of Nitsch Elementary. We are proud to have been recognized for the collaborative processes that have become our academic foundation,” Nitsch Elementary Principal Frank Ward said. “High ideals, high expectations, and a high degree of explicit instruction allow us to build a ‘Blue Sky’ mindset—guaranteed!”
The most crucial component of Nitsch’s school-wide approach to the PLC process is the intentional feedback throughout all portions of the lesson cycle. Metacognitive practices have become the standard for supporting students in becoming the best version of themselves.
Nitsch is one of six Klein ISD schools that has proudly earned this designation since 2019. Achieving this recognition is significant, requiring a solid commitment to PLC methods for at least three years. Schools must also showcase how these strategies have positively impacted student outcomes, reflecting their dedication to fostering academic success.
Congratulations, Nitsch Elementary, this recognition is well deserved!
